His Birthday

Work is so busy right now, I've been going home completely wiped in the afternoons. By the time I'm finished cooking dinner, all I want to do it go sleep.

But this weekend was my boy's birthday and on Saturday morning I asked him what he wanted to do. Without hesitation, he said off-roading. My heart sunk but it's his birthday and who am I to deny him his birthday wish. So off we go to Evans Creek, an Off Roading Park (yes, there are such things in WA state) near Mount Rainier. It was a beautiful day but kinda foggy from rains that have started this past week.

We go on an easy trail, not too bad and then he turned onto a trail that I knew was going to be trouble. Up we go, among deep ditches and random old growth tree roots ... slipping and sliding ... but then it happened. We were going up and another vehicle was coming down, the rules are that the person that's going up must make way. I think. So somehow they start to navigate around each other and Nick, bless his heart, went pass the guy when he thought that the guy was coming too close and was going to hit him. The back wheel of the Jeep skidded and was hanging off a plastic water runoff pipe .... and into a ravine. He said that if we had fallen, at best we wouldn't be killed. I beg to differ.

But anyway, we were there, sitting and the guy in the first vehicle ran up, took a look at the situation and proceeded to ask Nick, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" At this point, neither of us really knew what or how bad the situation was. There were about five other Jeeps waiting up the hill so those guys came down to see what was going on. One of them, totally hammered, was able to strap Nick's Jeep to a tree and pull us off the ravine.

That's when, in typical girl fashion, I lost my shit.

It was one of those moments when you're praying not to have something bad happen and as soon as you've cleared danger, you're looking to kill someone. Yeah, that's me. But I couldn't really do anything... It wasn't really his fault and he was doing fine until the other guy came down the hill.

Anyway, the trip paid off because at the end of the trail, there was the most amazing pictures of Mt. Rainier that I've ever took... we were so close. I'll post those when I get home tonight.

Sunday was just spent at home, where I made him melt in your mouth pancakes and we went back to bed, played some Warcraft and last night went to the Melting Pot. Where we gorged. I'm sure both of us are going to feel the effects at work today.
