These are the days of our lives...

Well not really. Work's just been absolutely nuts and I even resorted to typing up a resignation letter. I didn't hand it in but needless to say, it will rear it's head sooner rather than later. I'm tired of working for nepotists.

But I digress. It's starting to both warm up and lighten up here, another year passes and returning to New York seems farther and farther away. I had planned a trip for May but I think that's now not going to happen. Nick was talking about going to Moab again for Easter Jeep Safari and I think maybe I will surprise him with that instead.

I was cleaning out one of the cameras and came upon some pictures from Christmas and the lunar eclipse that happened last week.

I had made these peanut butter cookies for a work cookie exchange, they were so effing good. I also made this espresso shortbread that while it was good, it was too small.

Here's the cookies wrapped to exchange, I was up until 2am wrapping them.

The espresso shortbread wrapped in parchment paper.

The entire set.

He wasn't too happy, this was Christmas morning I believe.

Because I had nothing better to do.

The lunar eclipse, from a crappy camera outside our bedroom window, while I slept Nick took these.

So, I waited patiently to open the rum cake that my aunt sent me, and when I did, I had to explain the concept to Nick. I sliced off a piece and it was really good, better than I expected for something mass produced. Well Nick, the one of my heart, decided that there wasn't enough "rum" in the rum cake so next thing I know, his slice ended up bathed in more rum. The cake was so dense however that it didn't absorb anything. Un-deterred however, a few days later I came home to this.

The boy took a flavor injector...filled it with rum ... and injected the heck out of that cake. It was such a soppy mess, but he ate it alright.
