Corny but true

So, we interrupt this regularly scheduled nothingness to recollect a sweet story. I went crazy this past weekend and bought four pairs of shoes and then last night five more pairs. The four was from the Outlet mall near here, the five were online. I had to get them in different sizes cause I couldn't try them on. Most of those will go back.

Anyway, I have had the same three pairs of shoes for a while and that's really my limit. We have an over the door shoe rack that holds my shoes. If it doesn't fit there, then that's usually it.

But I was running late this morning and so was Nick. I had left one of the new pairs by the stairs and since Blaze has developed a recent penchant for taking my slipper with him all over the house, Nick in his being-late-for-work rush, picked up my new shoes and put it in the one remaining slot in the shoe rack.

It's the small things sometimes with him which is why I stopped in my being-late-for-work rush, looked at the shoe rush and realized for the umpteenth time why I'm in love with him.

Asking him to pick up his socks around the house tho, frequently turns into WWIII. But, we'll work on that.
This lake we found by accident, well the lake was hard to miss, but the campground we found by accident. We went there three times last year and this is the first time this year. It was windy where we were at because the site was up on a bluff, but everyone had tons of fun nonetheless.

Economic Nightmares

I woke up this morning at 4:40am in a cold sweat because of my job; today's economic news just made it all the worse. I can safely say that today was a hellish day. Today's stock market close and subsequent fall out of the bond market kept me at my desk from 7:50 am until about noon. Literally. I don't think I got up for more than two minutes and that was to run to the restroom.

The other news that shook me up was the whole incidence with IndyMac. They were an Investor that we did a huge amount of business with last year but this year took a huge dive. That company was also the reason that I gave my notice at my current company back in February. See, Indy had an issue with keeping their promises and because of a series of unfortunate events, made the company that I work for lose tens of thousands of dollars. Events that began at my end.

Anyway, a few years ago, I interviewed for a job there and while I really really wanted it, am I glad that I'm not one of those people now looking for ways to pay their bills. I really do feel sorry for those that lost their jobs but this economy that we're in sucks major monkey balls. So much so that now I'm sitting here drinking some Gentleman Jack and coke while petting el perro.

Blaze - an update

Happy to report that Blaze survived this latest bout of being boarded and he was taken care of so wonderfully. At the suggestion of Carol, my co-worker we took him to Paradise Pet Lodge. The place is managed by her boyfriend's sister and while I'm inclined to think that they take care of all their boarders this wonderfully, I'm glad that the small connection we had made them pay a bit more attention to him.

Right now he's running around with Nick's socks tied around his neck....

So, it's a little known fact that when I first met Nick ... I tried to set him up with my friend Maggie. Not because of any reason in particular, as a matter of fact, Maggie was in a relationship at the time I believe.

I figured he's white and she's white ... and therefore it was a perfect match. Nick and Maggie has since never quite gotten along. She thinks he's the devil and he just loves nothing more than to torture her.

Lost World Indeed

So last night, Nick and I sat down to watch Lost World: Land of the Giants; and I have to say, I'm conflicted. It was a nice somewhat cinematic overview of Guyana, the rainforest and some species that thrive there. My conflict with it is that I always bristle a bit whenever people go into that country and offer "insight" into the natural resources because I'm wary that others will exploit the land and the people.

I need to go further into this but for now I have a ton of things that I have to do for June and for work.... and still make dinner.

Good things

The past few days have been filled with good things and really bad feelings ... and I don't know where to start. I feel like I have to start censoring myself ... again.

The long and short of it is that I did something really good for my cousins (bought them a new computer). Something that will make all 4 of them be really happy and able to do their schoolwork and be smart and successful and go on to be Presidents of this land and others.

The bad thing is that for some inane reason, I am picking fights with Nick and it's transferring itself into my subconscious where I'm having dreams about us fighting. It's because of his messed up family. But more on that later.

The other bad thing is work. I came thisclose to leaving that misery, got scammed back and now regret it again. And the other other bad thing about work is that one of my most liked co-worker is going through a rough time and I feel so helpless because if there's one shit I hate ... is when bad things happen to people that are good to their cores.

Blaze

The one thing that I hate about going on vacation is that if it's anywhere that requires flying, it usually means also boarding Blaze. Now, Blaze is not a social dog by any means, and that's not his fault but that of Nick. Nick trained him to be a little soldier.

Blaze, like me, does not get along well with others. This time was no exception. The dog that we took to the boarding place was happy and intact. When we picked him up today, all four of his paws was bloody from running around on pebbles in the play area. His snout area was rubbed raw and also bleeding from sticking his muzzle through a chain link fence.

When I saw him, I couldn't help but start to cry, because the alternative was blind rage. I have taken him to this place before and he did well. I cannot imagine what on earth happened this time around.

He's laying on the floor right now, curled up with his Fluffy. I never want to leave him again.
